Discovering Van Gogh’s world in Monreale

“I want to express something touching by a painting like a song. I want to paint men and women with that something of the external which the halo used to symbolize, and which we now seek to give by the actual radiance and vibrancy of our colorings […]. Ah! Portraiture, portraiture with the thought, the soul of the model in it, that is what I think must come”. Vincent Van Gogh wrote this on the 3th of September 1888 during his staying in Arles. He was not a world famous artist yet, he was actually criticized for his style and bright colors.

The Starry Night”,  his Sunflowers series, his famous self portraits are some of the masterpieces of the artist exhibited in the most prestigious museums of Europe and of the world, and at the core of “Van Gogh Multimedia Experience” a multimedia exposition which allows to jump into the world of this extraordinary artist. Having seen the success, the exhibition has opened since last November and will continue until the 13th of May at the monumental complex “Guglielmo II” in Monreale. It was supposed to close on the 29th of April.

It is open everyday from 9.30 to 7.00 pm ; from Friday to Saturday until 9.00 pm.
